3 vegan restaurants that you cannot miss in Palma

Veganism is a way of life that rejects the exploitation of animals and the consumption of products derived from it, such as meat, fish, dairy, egg, honey, wool, leather and any other product involving animal abuse.

Unfortunately, Spain is not an easy place where to practice this ethic as we love beef and pork – what to say of our star product, the Jamón Ibérico or, more specific from Mallorca, the Sobrassada sausage. Therefore,  if you are following a vegan diet, we would like to make some recommendations for places where you can enjoy food in your style.

Before we begin, we would like to remind you – or to inform you, in case you didn’t know – that a lot of typical Mallorcan cuisine contains some kind of animal derivative. As it happens, the pastries which we have spoken in other articles of,  like the Ensaimadas and the Panades, carry lard in their dough. Thus, to make sure you are not consuming any animal derivate, we suggest you ask – even if it doesn’t look like it has to have any pork or lard in it – before buying. Just in case!

Let’s start with the list of vegan places!

Temple Natura

This beautiful emplacement is in the middle of the old town, very close to the ancient Jewish quarter. The restaurant has a gorgeous terrace inside where to enjoy your meal while sunbathing and breathing the smell of the plants. The menu is perfectly complemented with classics such as gazpacho, salmorejo, salads and nachos bio with guacamole, and some fabulous artisan ice creams. The burgers are incredible, and in addition, the garden of its inner courtyard makes the experience become unique

Our recommendation; Nachos as a starter, a burger as a main dish. They also offer a menu for the kids: “no-chicken” nuggets. For dessert, do not miss the brownie made with carobs!

Bon Lloc

Close to “El Borne” promenade we find this cosy restaurant that opened more than 20 years ago.

Despite the service might be a bit slow sometimes, the food is incredibly amazing and wonderfully seasoned, abundant… sometimes smoky, sometimes spicy, creamy, fresh and, definitely, excellent.

This place also contemplates gluten-free options so, let the waiter/waitress know when you arrive so you can get the best recommendations.

Every midday they offer a closed menu for 15 € consisting of a starter, a main course, a second course and dessert. In addition to water and bread. Two options are offered for each dish. As for starters, they usually offer a salad or juice. Do not miss the homemade desserts! Spectacular!

Bagel

Whenever you get up a little late and don’t feel like cooking, come here to start the day correctly.

This cosy cafe is located in a quiet street and where, when the place opens at about 11 o’clock, the sun shines pleasantly. Within the best breakfasts in Palma, Bagel is a must.

All the food is super good, the waiter is super attentive and friendly and both smoothies and infusions are of very good quality. The same happens with the coffee, from the brand ‘Illy’ and it is also magnificent. The place is a bit small and does not have many tables but the breakfasts are usually quick and in a short time there is a table available.

It is not a 100% vegan place but they have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options and also gluten-free!

If you are travelling with your dog, Bagel welcome them!
